Chesapeake Horizons Sailing serves owners of cruising sailboats who typically have some sailing experience and want to build their skills and confidence. It might be your first time owning a cruising sailboat, or you might be moving up to a larger boat, or you would just feel more comfortable having a qualified instructor on board to help you get started.
I typically teach on sailboats in the 25- to 45-foot range. I can help you prepare for safe and enjoyable day sailing, overnight cruising on the Chesapeake, and your first coastal passages beyond the Bay. Training is tailored to your experience level and includes crews, couples, and families.
I can also provide delivery assistance (with the owner on board) to help you get your new boat to its homeport or move your boat to another sailing location. If your insurance requires a licensed captain on board for an initial period, I can help with that too. Delivery and insurance services include as much instruction as you need to be able to confidently handle your boat.
I primarily serve boat owners on the Middle and Upper Chesapeake Bay, as well as instructional deliveries anywhere on the Bay.
